Unearth

6 weeks of 1:1 asynchronous coaching to support later-identified Autistic adults to figure out and integrate their Autistic identity.

Following identification as an Autistic person, whether that’s via medical diagnosis or self-identification, it can feel like there’s so much to figure out. If you’re anything like me and most other Autistics I work with, you’ve probably already spent hours (or months!) researching Autism and know lots about it theoretically. But it can be tricky to work out how it shows up for you personally, especially if you’ve gone unidentified for much of your life so far.

As someone with extensive experience of supporting others post-identification and someone who has been there personally, it seems to be pretty common to feel like there’s so much to unravel before you even begin to start living in alignment with your neurotype. Unearth is meant for exactly that!

How does it work?

Think of Unearth as your pocket guide to exploring and further integrating your Autistic identity.

We’ll spend 6 weeks working together. During that time, you’ll have access to me for 2 hours fortnightly via Voxer (a secure voice/messaging app). In between times, you’ll also have access to a resource bank on the various topics we’re covering - think masking, emotional regulation, sensory self-care to name just a few.

At the end of the 6 weeks, you’ll have a deeper understanding of and connection to your Autistic identity, as well as an awareness of what you might like to continue to explore for yourself and where you might like some more support.

What could we talk about?

  • Asking for accommodations

  • Sharing your diagnosis with others

  • Co-occurring things, e.g. ADHD

  • Emotional regulation

  • Gender and sexuality

  • Internalised ableism

  • Intersecting identities

  • Masking

  • Meltdowns and/or shutdowns

  • Navigating burnout

  • Parenting Autistic children

  • Self-care

  • Sensory

  • Work or education

Give Voxer a try

All the Unearth action takes place over on secure messaging app, Voxer. I’m a big fan of it’s walkie-talkie function, meaning you can either listen to voice messages live or listen and respond in your own time.

If you’d like to give it a try, listen to a message from me here with some quick steps on how to get started.

FAQs

  • Unlike some other therapeutic practices, coaching is an equal relationship defined by consent, empathy, safety, confidentiality, non-judgement, honesty, self-reflection and humour.

At no time will I try to fix you, but I will instead help you to rediscover the untapped and infinite resources you have within.

To see what my clients say about working with me, check out some testimonials.

  • Voxer is a secure walkie-talkie messaging app. You hold down the button whilst you speak and I can listen to your message in real-time and respond. If you’re not online, messages will be saved to listen to later like in WhatsApp. Voxer also offers text-based messaging too if you’d prefer.

  • The great thing about Voxer coaching is that you can do it anywhere. You might like to think about where you are and whether you feel you can speak freely without being overheard.

You’re welcome to send voice notes, text or a combination. I’ll usually reply in voice notes.

You might like to have with you any notes you’ve made and a pen/paper for doodling or note-taking.

Your comfort matters! Please feel free to stim, take breaks if you need to and have to hand anything you need to feel as comfy as possible, e.g. blankets, fidget toys, a warm drink.

If you have any access needs, please do let me know.

  • Nope. I’ll be on-hand via Voxer for that 2-hour slot but there’s no expectation that you’ll be there the whole time. You’re welcome to share thoughts / questions / reflections there during the weeks and I’ll catch up at the beginning of our session and respond.

  • Whilst my work is trauma-informed and I often work with clients in 1:1 sessions to release and resolve trauma, working with me is not a substitute for acute mental health care or substance abuse treatment. If you are currently in any kind of therapy, please inform your medical or therapeutic practitioner of your intention to work with a coach in this way.
